ROGER BALLEN

Born in New York City, Roger Ballen has lived and worked in Johannesburg for over thirty years. Using the camera as a means of self-expression, he photographed civil rights activists and Vietnam War protesters of the 1960s. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of California - Berkeley. His work is included in the Museum of Modern Art and Victoria and Albert Museum. Ballen has had exhibitions at the National Library of Australia and University of Auckland, New Zealand.
