FLOR GARDUNO

FRI JAN 24 2003 — SAT MAR 8 2003

"Flor Garduno?s photography is rooted in the autobiographical. She becomes, in effect, her models, the world that we see as spectators to the photographs, is an extension of herself. Garduno?s work not only opens itself to its intended audience but also bares the personality of the photographer. ""My artistic quest"", she once commented, ""is also a search for the characters in my dreams."" Through her photography she is able to depict how life?s scenes unfold before her. Her subject matter extends to all those American native cultures where myth and its representation in rituals still survive. Her work is collected by public institutions (MOMA, New York, Art Institute, Chicago, Biblioth?que Nationale, Paris; Stiftung f?r Photographie, Z?rich, Ludwig Museum, K?ln; ...) and private institutions (Getty Fondation, Los Angeles, CA, ...) Flor divides her time between Tepoztlan, Mexico and Stabio, Switzerland."
