CAROLYN CARR
FRI SEP 19 2014 — SAT NOV 29 2014
Carolyn Carr produces iconic photographs, paintings, and pottery that push the boundaries of these mediums. Recently, she has been creating meditative environments by placing photographs, sculptural work, and paintings in a room of her design. Carolyn Carr received her BFA from the Atlanta College of Art. She is known for her abstract paintings of interwoven curvilinear lines that are derived from captured graffiti signatures. This repeated gesture is used as a marker of form while acting as a signifier for content. Her work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions at museums and galleries including High Museum (Atlanta) Jackson Fine Art (Atlanta) Gavlak (New York, Palm Beach), Artists Space (New York), 10 Chancery Lane (Hong Kong), Armory Show (New York) , Art Basel (Miami), National Museum of Women (Washington DC , the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, David Heath and Fay Gold [Atlanta), and Flux. Carr is represented by Gerber-Seid Fine Art in New York and Jackson Fine Art. Her work has been reviewed in Modern Painters and can be seen in Suzanne Kasler’s new book, Timeless Style, and in recent publications of House Beautiful and Architectural Digest.
