Meghann Riepenhoff Biography

Born in Atlanta, GA, Meghann Riepenhoff is an artist based in Bainbridge Island, WA and San Francisco, CA. She received a BFA in Photography from the University of Georgia, Athens, GA and an MFA from San Francisco Art Institute, San Francisco, CA, where she is a part of the visiting faculty. 

Meghann Riepenhoff’s photography has been exhibited internationally and nationally at the High Museum of Art (Atlanta, GA), Worcester Art Museum (Worcester, MA), Yossi Milo Gallery (NY, NY) Galerie du Monde (Hong Kong), Memphis College of Art (Memphis, TN), University of Missouri (Columbia, MO), Higher Pictures (New York, NY), San Francisco Camerawork (San Francisco, CA), Duncan Miller Gallery (Los Angeles, CA), San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery (San Francisco, CA), Foley Gallery (New York, NY), Museo de la Ciudad (Queretaro, Mexico), Photo Center Northwest (Seattle, WA), Houston Center for Photography (Houston, TX), the Center for Fine Art Photography (Ft. Collins, CO), Euqinom Projects (San Francisco, CA), San Diego State University (San Diego, CA) and the Aperture Foundation (New York, NY).

In 2014, Charlotte Cotton awarded Meghann Riepenhoff first place in the Camera Club of New York’s Annual Juried Competition, she was a Nominee for the Baum Award, received Honorable Mention for the John Clarence Laughlin Award, and was selected as a Top 50 Photographer by Critical Mass. In 2015, Meghann Riepenhoff was awarded a Fleishhacker Foundation grant for her solo exhibition at SF Camerawork (San Francisco, CA) and in 2016, she was featured at FotoFest Biennial Discoveries of the Meeting Place, an exhibition awarded by Karen Irvine, Associate Director, Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago, IL).

Meghann Riepenhoff was an artist-in-residence in 2009 at the Rayko Photo Center (San Francisco, CA); in 2008 and 2010 at Banff Centre for the Arts (Canada) and between 2012-2015 was an Affiliate Artist at the Headlands Center for the Arts (Sausalito, CA). She was awarded the Exhibition Artist-in-Residence at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, which was supported by the National Endowment for the Arts. Meghann Riepenhoff’s photography has been published in The New York Times, Time Magazine LightBox, Photograph Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, Harper’s Magazine, Aperture PhotoBook Review, Oprah Magazine, BOMB Magazine Word Choice, B&W and Color, Seattle Times, and Zyzzyva.
